Expansion Board on Proprietary UM486VIO Motherboard Connector for 5 ISA Ports
This board allows adding ISA connectors to an Intel 486 Kenitec PC using a UM486VIO motherboard. Originally, this machine was equipped with an expansion card with 3 ISA slots on a 120-pin proprietary connector. The goal was therefore to obtain 2 additional ISA slots, which the PC case allows.
It was necessary to study the original board to deduce the ISA pinout on the motherboard's proprietary connector. The result of this analysis can be viewed in this PDF file.
The PCB was manufactured, components assembled, and it works perfectly in this PC. It was also tested with the following motherboards that share the same proprietary connector:
- ECS UM486-VIO (D4M) Rev. 1.0 – the board for which the PCB was designed
- FIC 486-JAL REV. B
- ECS UX486VIO-A Rev. 1.0 (Amstrad PC9486)
and it is likely compatible with other models.
The KiCad project and all resources are available on the GitHub project page.
